INTERVIEWER: MAHMOUD MANSI
1-Recently you were a speaker at the Performance Improvement & KPIs Conference in Dubai. What was the most important piece of knowledge that you gained from this experience?
It was nice experience to see different industries other than mine “healthcare” sitting in one room understanding the basics of performance management and how they were planning to adopt as per their core business requirements – The KPI Institute taught us that if you really understand your future destination and apply the proper performance management you will be able to continuously grow within sustainable system.
2-Do you think that the KPIs of the same job can change across time, from one year to the other?
There will be always certain set of measures remain same which are related to your core business yet you can always take those to higher level of compliance by challenging your targets and henceforth your performance – by growing you will continuously have an addition and new measures for sure.
3-From your point of view what are the qualities of a clever public speaker?
In addition to the presentation skills he/she needs to be up to date with his/her knowledge of not only the field but also to what’s going on all over the world.
Speakers have to believe in what he present and walk the talk so he/she can make difference.
4-From your point of view, what is the major contemporary HR threat in the UAE?
Staff retention I think worldwide challenge and so in UAE.
Efficient utilization of organization manpower is another challenge I believe.
5-The relationship between HR and the Employee/Doctor is clear. Describe the relationship between HR and the Patient/Customer?
The HR relation with customer won’t be direct relationship but will be represented by providing the customer with the most appropriate talent and skilled staff who are able to meet or even exceed their expectations while fulfilling their needs at any industry.
6-Due to the increase of business conferences, do you think public speaking became as essential quality that should be considered before hiring any manager?
The public speaking skills is a must to have for any manager as they will be representing their organization in different occasions and better to do this in best manner; moreover those skills will help them affecting on their employee to change the culture and direct the organization toward achieving its strategic plane as well as its vision.

To work in much less stressful tone and to build a team empowered by sharing knowledge and skills so we can rely on sustainable system.
8-What advice would you have towards colleagues working in developing countries in the Middle East and Africa that suffer from lack of healthcare?
In healthcare industry we provide CARE and Compassionate services not only clinical services and especially at those countries I would advise them to have their human touch while delivering that limited resources service.
9-How do you measure performance in a hospital?
At hospitals we measure our performance in different approaches such as:
- KPIs
- Incident reporting analysis
- Risk registry follow ups
- Quality improvement projects progress monitor
- Regular audits in different areas varies from medication to facility management
- Staff competencies
- Physicians ongoing practice evaluation
- Charts review
- Documents revision like Job description, policies and procedure, protocols among others
10-Many fresh graduates, middle age employees and professionals consider career shifting? What do you think about this move? And from your personal opinion why do you think the reason behind the increase in career shifting?
The career shift is required after certain period of time and it is a healthy decision sometimes –the staff needs to know why he’s/she’s moving with clear agenda on what’s next? It’s part of the growing deal, we have to grow and move either within the same organization or outside to challenge our skills and knowledge ,to gain new ones and not to sit behind same desk doing same thing for 15 years like robots unless you have no PASSION!
11-As a professional you have been through several job interviews until you have reached your current position. What was the most difficult interview question you were asked, and what was your answer to it?
All questions were technical and I had no issues with those but I was worry from a question they usually ask in any interview “why we should hire you or what you will add to us?” it sound easy but I never felt prepared fully to answer such question as it’s hard to say really at interview level without knowing the exact pain point of that organization.
Humbly seeing I’ve been not questioned as seem my organizations always knew what value I’ll be adding to them. 🙂
12-What advice do you have to youth who want to establish a career in the UAE?
DO WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO.
13-What is your opinion regarding unemployment in the Middle East? And what are your suggested strategies to deal with the issue?
Collaborative effort highly required from government, teaching organizations, employers as well as individuals to open new doors as per the changing market needs and to open our minds to new opportunities.
14-If you are to create your own HR Summit, which country will it take place in, and what will be the theme you would like to choose? Why?
Jordan as there is high unemployment rate with A LOT of skilled and smart youth category who needs direction on as I just mentioned opening their mind to new opportunities.
Theme might be “Ready to open your mind doors before career doors?”
