They say you never forget the first time you do something. no matter how many times how many times you repeat it, enhance it or surpass it, you never enjoy it as much as the first time. That’s why the College of Language and Communication “CLC” will never forget the night of 19th of May when their first class finally graduated.

Under the title of “The Story Tellers Debut” the first class of CLC performed their graduation projects in Qaitbay’s citadel yesterday which happens to be the first academic event to be held in this astonishing historical place.

As Dr. Amira Ehsan said “due to our love to Alexandria and its everlasting cultural treasures, Under the Alexandria’s historical and inspirational umbrella the Arab Academy of science and technology has held a celebration to present our first graduating class and their projects. The citadel was chosen especially as a token of appreciation to the Egyptian history. This is based on the university’s role to spread knowledge and enlightenment in a way that is related to the soul of the place as a support to the flow of tourism. Also to send a message that aims for raising the cultural, educational, spiritual and emotional level of the Egyptian society towards our beloved country.”

The event was attended by Professor Dr. Ismail Abd el Ghaffar, the president of the Arab Academy for science and technology, in addition to a constellation of very significant Egyptian and Tunisian stars like Shery Adel, Sahar el Sayegh, Ramy Radwan, Batol Arafa, Khaled el Ghandoor, Ahmad Fareed, Aisha ben Ahmed and Mohamed Mohsen who performed at the end of the graduation.

“Today’s event was one of the most powerful and positive events I have attended in a while. It’s such a shame that it was covered by only two TV channels while if there was an accident or a negative piece of news you’d find hundreds of channels wanting to cover it.” Said Dr. Alaa Ragab the manager of social programs in Alhayah channel.

The projects pointed out a lot of problems the Egyptian society faces. For instance, materialism, especially when it comes to marriage, the indefinable perception of beauty, the dystopia which many of the youth suffers from nowadays, and the superstition concepts that a lot of people adopt and believe in. Each and every project used various media outlets and when it comes to translation department students, they translated books and wrote poems related to their project’s subject.

The College of Language and Communication (CLC) is the first among AAST colleges specializing in humanities. The college offers a bachelor’s degree of Arts in Language and Communication with a double major either Media or Language and Translation. It also offers a great opportunity to join the college of Autanama in Spain for a semester.
