On March 25, 2019, Renault Middle East made swift wins across multiple award categories at the highly-coveted MECOTY Middle East Car of the Year Awards 2019.The esteemed awards ceremony was held alongside the International Motor Show Abu Dhabi and the Custom Show Emirates at the Al Ma’ared Hall, Adnec, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Now in its 6th year, the MECOTY awards is widely considered to be the most coveted regional automotive industry awards – integrates a complex yet transparent nomination and scoring methodology which is developed, tested and implemented by the most experienced ‘motoring minds’ of the industry.
The voting process for MECOTY involves one Jury Award for each category and only one unique Public Award amongst all nominated cars and categories to enable public car enthusiasts to have their say on the overall Car of the Year.
Renault’s triumph at the 2019 awards got off to a flying start with the All-New Renault Duster winning the prestigious MECOTY Public Award, receiving the most public votes amongst all nominated cars and categories. The Duster’s win was testament to its distinctive styling and off-road capabilities, which make it the perfect companion for adventure-filled experiences.
Also facing fierce competition, the new Renault Megane R.S. proved it is leading and redefining the C-segment sport market by securing top honors, recognized by the Jury Award in the Performance Hatchback category. Equally capable both on and off the racetrack, the Megane R.S. is at the forefront of sporting performance and design and also pays homage to Renault’s competitive racing heritage.
Driving automotive innovation into the future, the Zoe Z.E. 40 capped off a stunning night for Renault by charging to first place to secure the Jury Award in the Electric Vehicles class. This 100 percent electric vehicle is leading Renault’s commitment towards enabling accessibility of eco-friendly designs for environmentally conscious consumers.
