1- HR Revolution Middle-East Magazine: What inspired you to start this business? How did you recruit and gather the crew?

I worked as a masseur for seven years. When Complete Wellness started we didn’t need to make any recruitment because we already knew each other from the beginning. We knew our skills and we understand each other well, so we thought about growing bigger and being independent by starting our own massage centre. We starting saving money and we took the 50/50 risk chance.

2- HR Revolution Middle-East Magazine: What are the challenges you face?

We are facing financial problems because we started this project 6 months ago and we still didn’t reach our break-event point. As a solution we are focusing on increasing our customers.

3- HR Revolution Middle-East Magazine: How do you attract your customers?

We mainly rely on our skill. We also invite passersby to try the massage by sharing the benefits. When the customer is having his/her massage session the masseur entertains the customer by speaking more about the benefits of massage and some casual talk.

4- HR Revolution Middle-East Magazine: For employees, how many times should they have a massage and what are the body parts that need extra attention?

For employees, mainly back and shoulder because they sit in the office all day. The number of times depends on the amount of stress they have. One a week in considered perfect for the he average employee. On the other hand foot massage is also useful as it improves sleeping and the functions of different body organs.

5- HR Revolution Middle-East Magazine: What are the qualifications of a good masseur in Singapore?

Basically you should have a WSQ or WSSI certificate and the government approval to start your own business here. To be a good masseur you should also have the skill. As you are working in a shop you should also have the skill to talk to customers and attract them.

6- HR Revolution Middle-East Magazine: If you are hiring a new masseur in your shop, what will you care about more, the skill or the personality?

We care about the skill because the customer mainly comes for the skill. We teach the masseur how to deal with customers and how to talk. This is our training.

7- HR Revolution Middle-East Magazine: I noticed that there are many massage centres in Singapore, and most of them focus on foot massage. Why foot massage in specific?

Foot massage is healthy for the entire body and in Singapore people walk on their feet a lot therefore foot reflexology is more needed. Chinese massage is widely spread in Singapore and in the ancient Chinese culture. It started by the King and Queen they used to have foot massage then it passed through generation and became a science.

8- HR Revolution Middle-East Magazine: As a masseur what do you feel while massaging the customer?

I feel it is fun and also relaxing to me same as it is relaxing to the customer. I feel happiness and achievement when I fend the customer feeling good in the end and healthier.

9- HR Revolution Middle-East Magazine: Since you are established for 6 months only, and there are a lot of massage centres around, how are you competing with them?

We strongly rely on our skill and passion, our prices are very competitive and we also provide free WiFi to our customers.

HR Revolution Middle-East Magazine: Thank you so much for your time Mr. Weiqiang and for your partners for helping people through your job.
