Joining the Arab Youth International Model United Nations, which is organized by Globalization, is one of the most efficient and enjoyable ways to gain new experience, explore different parts of the world, and meet new people from different cultures.

I originally applied to the conference, which was supposed to be held in Dubai in 2020, but as the pandemic postponed several things, it also postponed the conference to September 2021, which was so much better because it allowed me to be exposed to more diverse cultures.

The program lasted three days, was concise and absolutely fun!

– First-Day: The organizers pick you up at the airport (meet and greet). The opening ceremony takes place at night, where you can meet and greet everyone and listen to speeches from directors, the patron, founders, diplomats, and many guests of honor. You end the day with Game Night and dinner to unwind and recharge your energy for the next 2 days!

– Second Day: It is divided into three UN simulation sessions based on your assigned committee, such as WHO or UNDP. The simulation went more smoothly than I expected, with no hard constraints, and the important thing is to express yourself and bring your work to light while also having fun. You begin your adventure of exploring Dubai city in the afternoon. Dubai city tour showed the city’s many important sites, such as Zabeel Palace and the Burj Al Arab, just as fast as keeping you wanting more!

– Third-Day: The last day is the celebration of concluding the sessions with a closing ceremony and award distribution followed by cultural performances. Of course, you can’t visit Dubai without experiencing the Desert Safari. We went on a Dubai safari trip as a farewell, and it was personally as it concluded the amazing work and the group of friends that you make at the end.

It was one of the most fascinating fast learning experiences a young person could witness, as it combined learning and fun/exploration on both professional and personal levels. It is very important to demonstrate your skills and efforts throughout the simulation’s various stages and this is what you need to work on:

  1. Position paper of your country in the specified committee
  2. Your opening speech
  3. Cross engagement and forming blocs
  4. Draft resolution and final stage of voting

Different cultural experience, to say, is the thing that I recommend that you go through the experience for it. Communication and stepping outside of your comfort zone are a guarantee in that experience.

To be a part of this experience you must have a valid passport, go to the registration website, fill out the application form, wait for their acceptance letter, choose the package you want, proceed with payment and that’s it!
