Women lead the way by inspiring others to create a career they love:

The latest event that’s making waves in Dubai

When you think of a networking event, you might think of awkward small talk, a frenzy of business card swapping and lots of dull suits in a room. And then, Thrive Woman hits the scene.

The Thrive Woman speaker sessions contrast completely to the ‘typical’ networking event. Instead of awkward small talk, there are passionate, inspirational speakers (often founders of Dubai’s best loved companies) who share the personal stories behind their career achievements. Instead of suited and booted, Thrive has a relaxed dress-code, mirroring the event’s personal and creative nature. And rather than a flurry of business cards, there are authentic, impassioned conversations about the ups and downs of work life.

Thrive was created by Farida Gilmore, a Career Coach and former Corporate Communications Consultant, after she came to the realisation that her corporate career left her feeling unfulfilled. A firm believer in the notion that ‘you only live once’, Farida decided to leave corporate life and instead pursue her passion in coaching and in creating the Thrive platform, an idea she says she had for years but was too fearful to kick-start. Farida commented, “I know from experience how important it is to have supportive people around you when you want to pursue a career you love. Thrive gathers creatives, aspiring and established entrepreneurs and working women looking to be motivated and inspired around their careers to connect, collaborate, share stories and spark conversation around the topics about which they are passionate. The platform exists to support us women (and men) as we build exciting careers that may include corporate work, side projects and/or self-employment.

As well as disrupting traditional expectations of networking events with its welcoming and energetic atmosphere, Thrive’s success can also be attributed to the fact that it speaks into current prominent themes such as women’s empowerment at work as well as a growing desire to create meaningful careers. Launched in November 2017 with the first event comprising an audience of barely 10 people, Thrive’s fourth event in June hosted over 80 attendees and is quickly picking up pace. The next Thrive Woman speaker event is planned for September 2018.
